Why A Healthy Cooking Club?

Healthy cooking has been a life-long passion of mine. When I finished school, I became a Registered Nurse and good health became a very important goal for me. But I was always inspired by cooking … and I love it to this day. I was lucky enough to join my husband in starting and running a luxury Charter Yacht business in the Caribbean. That became my learning ‘laboratory’ as a self-taught chef. I did also go to a well-known Culinary Institute for advanced training, but most of my gourmet healthy cooking knowledge came from the school of ‘hard knocks’ and continuous research. I must say, I am passionate about cooking, in almost any kind of setting.

We hosted guests from around the world … and they expected five-star cuisine. I had to learn fast – how to cook everything from scratch, bake everything from breads, rolls, pastries, etc., because in the 1980’s and 90’s it was hard (often impossible) to find the items our guests expected in the islands. I made my own sauces, dressings, soups, desserts, created five-course gourmet meals for dinners … and ‘lived’ in the galley (kitchen) from 5 a.m. till 10 p.m. every day, for years. I know … most people thought I was crazy, but I loved it.

My goal with Healthy Cooking Club is to share my love for health, nutrition and cooking … I have been researching, studying and using these tips & tricks to keep us young (teenagers at heart) and healthy for decades. I’d love your feedback, input, and healthy recipes to make this site your ‘go-to’ resource for healthy eating!
