Ingredients
4 Salmon Filets, skinless
1 tablespoon oil (olive oil)
Garnish: Sesame Seeds and Chopped Green Onions
- Homemade Teriyaki Sauce Ingredients
¼ cup Soy Sauce (Low Sodium)
1/8 cup Water
1 tablespoon Rice Wine Vinegar
1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
2 -3 tablespoons Honey
1 medium Garlic Clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated Ginger or 1/8 teaspoon ground Ginger
Cornstarch paste: 1 teaspoon cornstarch & 1 tablespoon cold water
Directions
- In a medium-size bowl, add soy sauce, 1/8 cup water, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, honey, garlic and ginger.
- Add half of the marinade to a plastic ziplock bag and the other half to a small saucepan and set aside.
- Put salmon filets into the plastic bag and toss them to coat them with the marinade. Let them marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat the reserved marinade in the saucepan and bring to a simmer. Add cornstarch and water to a small bowl and whisk to combine. Slowly whisk in the cornstarch mixture to the marinade and simmer until thickened.
- Remove the saucepan from the burner and set aside while the salmon is cooking.
- To cook the salmon, heat oil in a large skillet. Add salmon filets to the pan, cooking 2 filets at a time if you don’t have a large enough pan. Cook 3-4 minutes on each side until flaky and juicy.
- Serve salmon immediately with the teriyaki sauce drizzled on top. Garnish each salmon filet with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish, if desired.
Notes
- Be careful not to overcook the salmon. You want it to be flaky and juicy.
